To register for this level, your child should be at least 8 years old by the date of the first class. This is a combined level class for kids in either Swimmer 7, 8 or 9 level. Swimmer 9, Star Patrol, challenges swimmers with a 300 metre timed swim, 600 metre workout and a 25 metre object carry. Strokes are continued to be refined. Lifesaving skills include use of rescue aids, defense methods, victim removals and supporting a victim in shallow water. First aid focuses on treatment of bone or joint injuries and respiratory emergencies. Once complete, swimmers register into Bronze Star, and are on the path to becoming an instructor or lifeguard.
