Level 6 - Treadheads

1 min. readlast update: 04.08.2021

To register for this level, kids must be turning 6 by the end of the calendar year.

Treadheads must be able to safely ride on residential roads. They must be able to ride in a straight line for 20 metres (65 feet), change gears efficiently on flat terrain, and be able to hold a hand signal for five seconds and shoulder check, all while maintaining a straight line.

Treadheads will learn beginner mountain bike skills, how to change gears up and down hill, how to prepare their bike for trail riding, and work on intermediate street riding skills (Treadheads ride in light traffic). Treadheads also develop their stamina with long-distance rides, learn emergency stops and front wheel lifts, and understand cadence.
