Inclusivity at Camp

Joyful activity is for everyone! We would love to have your child at camp. Our classes have small ratios of students to instructors and we offer private lessons for those who want one-on-one attention. However, while our instructors are well trained in skill development, safety, class management, and overall program delivery, they are not specifically trained to support children with special needs.

To ensure the best Pedalheads experience, some children may require extra support to participate. In this case, you will need to send an aide or other trained adult to accompany your child at camp. We respect your ability to assess your child's requirements and ask that you give us as much information as possible at the time of registration to better help us in supporting them so they can learn and thrive.

We have put together some questions to guide you as to whether your child requires an aide at camp. If you answer yes to one or more questions, your child likely needs some additional support.

  1. Does your child require an aide or special assistance at school?
  2. Does your child require assistance using the bathroom?
  3. Is your child triggered by boisterous activities, large groups, and/or other specific language, tone of voice or events?
  4. Does your child tend to run away, inflict self-harm, or isolate themselves if they are stressed, hurt, or upset?

To ensure a safe and positive experience for all children, if a child requires special attention but attends without an aide, we will request that a parent or caregiver participate in class with them. If this is not possible, we will ask the family to supply an aide for the child to attend in another week.

Children of varying abilities are invited to join a group or private lessons, depending on their specific needs, and learning styles. We respect your ability to assess your child’s requirements and ask that you give us as much information as possible at the time of registration to better help us help your child learn and thrive. We completely understand that behavioral and developmental growth is dynamic and evolving with every child, and we would love to be active participants in your child’s learning. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information about the options available.
